Kenyan Way Long Run - 13 miles

50deg at the start with little humidity.  The temperature dropped 3deg while on the run, but for some reason it felt like a lot more.  I felt cold right up until mile 9, got weirdly warm and then cold again.  This is weird for me, normally I am NEVER cold at these temps while running.  Maybe hot yoga is making me a wuss in that sense...I just ran in shorts and a short sleeve and honestly it was perfect even if I got cold a time or two.  Better than being too warm out there.  That just makes me mad when that happens :)

But honestly it couldnt have been a more perfect day to run, this was great news for those doing their last long run before Houston Marathon in 3 weeks from today.  I ran it easy (10:20avg pace) with a negative split, the last 3 miles were sub 10 min and I was fine just enjoying the peaceful morning.  I started at around 5:15 because I needed to get done and be on my way to take care of Mom this weekend and give my sister a break (trying to do that more).  The route, while I usually dont like it (River Oaks but on the reverse), he altered it a bit to extend for those needing to go longer so they could then do Rice/Hermann etc.  I really liked the change up.  It seemed to go so much quicker than when it seems like we are deep in RO (residential) forEVAH.  I ran alone, but there were a couple of guys ahead of me and a couple behind me the whole way (I like that, surrounded by men) so I never felt iffy about being out there so early and basically alone.  It wasnt until I was on my way back to base that I started seeing the people that started at 6am with the group start.

I did have to stop twice along the way for potty break.  When I get up at 4:45 mother nature isnt always accomodating until after I get going on my run.  Stopped in Memorial Park and then again at the Shell station before heading into River Oaks.  Won't be doing that bathroom again...as awful as the blue poopoo stations are, this Shell station was beyond disgusting!

Just a great, great run overall.

Today I had it in my head that after returning from mom's I was going to go make a 4pm hot yoga class, but the weather is just dreadful (cold, rainy, windy) and it just seems like a day to just stay in.  I don't get a lot of sleep when I am out there, and its very physically and mentally draining caring for her, so as soon as I got home, I just crawled under a blanket and slept for 2 hours.

Now I am in the process of just preparing for the week, including making food.  I am starting a little 3 day detox tomorrow, so I needed to get things prepared for that.  I saw it on The Today Show by their nutritionist and it looks like a normal sort of detox (no gimmicks) so I thought I would give it a try.  This sucks for only one reason and thats because on Tuesday night I am going to see the movie Hood to Coast on its one night showing, and that means NO POPCORN!  BOO-HOO!!!

Has you ever done a detox?  Was it one of those cray-cray ones?

No detoxs for me. In fact, I haven't even been able to bring myself to try elimination diet for my health issues

Totally wierd run temperature wise. It definitely felt colder than it really was even though the wind was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Totally interested in the detox...more details please! LOL about that Shell station...if it's the one I think it is - NASTY! I used a construction porta potty in the back of my neighborhood where they are building new houses once. That was pretty bad.
