Honestly I don't know that I am even going to toe the Start line this Sunday.  After the cold, wind and pouring rain of the USAFit half marathon 2 weeks ago and how completely awful that experience was, I don't know that I really want to do this.  Let's face it, its not like I have been training for this particular race and having another notch in belt (I don't count my marathons and half marathons and medal count like a lot of folks do) isn't really why I run.  The local weather this morning that I watch actually calling for thunderstorms during the time of the marathon, and the future cast that they show how 'severe' the rainfall etc will be during a specific time frame, well lets just say a big red blob over Houston right around 7am.  Um.  Yeah.  Not so much.  I will keep watching the next couple of days obviously and it might come down to how bad its raining when my alarm goes off at 4:30am on Sunday.

At least its going to be nice on Saturday for the USATF Half Marathon Championship race that I am volunteering at!  I hope to get some sweet photos of Ryan Hall as he whizzes past me on the course!  I have to attend a meeting tonight for this which is blah (kinda) but at least they are feeding us and I understand that the volunteer shirts are awesome!

Anyone want to give me good reason to actually run in this predicted shitstorm of a race?  :O)

*********************************************
Tuesday:  90 min hot yoga class after work
Wednesday: Short 3 mile run after work (beautiful 60deg, clear sky, LOOOOOW humidity; just perfect)
Thursday: 4 mile run this morning before work (where I might add it was 41deg, clear sky, very little wind, and a beautiful crescent moon)

Seriously why couldn't we just have the perfect weather ONE year on marathon day?

There will be no rain at start. 53 at start at 61 at finish (10:30 am). It will be awesome. Perfect weather for me :)

Neeraj: I know you are an engineer and all :O) ... but you are not a meteorologist :O).

But I hope that you are right, and that the weather changes. However as you and I both know, it usually does, but for the worse. :/

The one year I ran the full (2005) the weather was spectacular. I got sooo lucky.

I'm not sure i'm a good convincer.

I am having to be really positive to encourage my mom to run her part of the relay on Sunday. Weather here is not looking great either. Warm and wet.

The same weekend last year, we had a severe windstorm that blew down all of the barricades and the race started 1.5 hours late. I was walking to my car when they decided to go ahead and start. I was so exhausted from shivering, that I can't believe I was able to finish.

Bad weather is really hard mentally, before and during.

I have no advice, but I feel your pain.
