I'm in pretty bad shape.
I wanted to DNF at 22, but mi familia wouldn't let me.
Was on 4:30 pace through 15 or so, then the left leg just gave out.
Stopped at 17.5 for about 5 min to visit with family. And again at mile 22 where I had the 'discussion' of dnf'ing.
Started 7/1's at around mile 19 I guess it was.
Still finished sub 5, and I'm ok going out like that. I had no idea what my time was since I switched the watch over to intervals...so I am actually shocked (and pleased) that I did that. I saw the clock at the end and I knew it was gonna be close....
5 years ago I ran Houston Marathon. It was my first marathon and I'm closing it out with 8.
My marathon days are over.
From here on out its half marathons...and distances shorter than that :)
My next goal is to get that sub 2 hour half marathon. I KNOW that had I been doing the half today I would have come oh so close to that. I felt great, and the weather was perfect early on (not so much later...)
I give thanks to my family for supporting me out there today, otherwise I know I would have just tossed in the towel probably earlier than mile 22. My leg is done-zo and like I said, I'm in pretty bad shape, but I know in a few days, I'll be fine...
Here is a picture one of my friends snapped of me in University, and where I was still rockin' and rollin'...

Congrats! You finished 26.2 miles. Be proud!
Oh I am proud. It was a rough day, its been an even rougher 6 months of training and and EVEN rougher of a year leading up to this. There were several things rolling about in my head, one being that my Momma never understood why I ran, so today I made it a point to show her. The character and strength she gave me and continues to give me even after she's gone. Thanks Robin!!!
Congrats on getting that medal! I ran today too and missed my "A" goal. That sun was beaming down and, after the congestion of the 1st 10 miles it was a tougher day than one might think, given the "good" conditions. Congratulations on another one in the books! This was #4 for me and I think it is my last (full)!
CONGRATS!!! Way to finish the race!! I LOVE that medal!! Great job! :)
The medal is worth gutting it out. And sometimes that is the most important thing we can take away from the race. Good job getting to the finish line.
