Total mileage: 14 miles
Average pace: 10:16

It was more like swimming than running...brutal, brutal, brutal.  When your clothes are so completely soaked through that the sweat is running down your legs and arms as if you were in the shower, it makes for a more mental than physical challenge.  I am pleased with the pace I ended up with, holding back early on because I knew around mile 12 I would be struggling, and that is exactly what happened.  That mile was along the bayou on the Memorial side with a big ass hill in it, and I just lost it there for a bit.  The thing was I was still passing people...people were walking and they were only in mile 8 of the route.  I was in mile 12, so that helped me mentally.  They were struggling and I was 4 miles ahead of them :)

What sucked even more was having to walk up about 3 flights of stairs about 1/2 way through the route (which was 8.5 miles this morning)...having to lift your body up all those stairs at that point was not fun.  Thankfully once you got to the top, the route went down a steep hill straight to the water stop...

I need to figure out how to wear less clothes than I already do...  :)  I wore the tiniest shorts I have along with the tiniest top I have and it was still unbearable...why can't we run naked?

Thankfully next week is a cut back week on the long run...I am SOOOO looking forward to that!!!

Way to tough it out. 2+ hours in these conditions...whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Keep it going!

My word verification is:
upeoan

whatever that is

Running naked would be worse than running with a bad sports bra... doesn't that just sound painful?? I now know why I missed you on Saturday - you started so freakin' early!
